Privacy Policy
How we handle your data.
Dubai School Finder is built by parents, for parents. We take your privacy seriously, especially when it involves your children’s information. This policy explains what we collect, what we don’t, and why.
The data controller is Datum Technologies FZE LLC, an Ajman free zone company, United Arab Emirates, operating dubaischoolfinder.ae. We process personal data in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (PDPL). Contact for any privacy matter: hello@dubaischoolfinder.ae.
What we collect
Location (map pin): When you drop a pin on the map or use geolocation, your coordinates are stored in your browser’s localStorage. We use this to calculate distances to schools. Your location is included in URL parameters when you search. It is not stored on our servers unless you provide your email (see below).
Child’s age: Used to determine the correct year group and fee schedule. Stored only in URL parameters and your browser, never on our servers by itself.
Email address: Only collected when you voluntarily submit it (for shortlist PDFs, fee change alerts, or school enquiries). Stored securely. Used only to send you what you asked for. Never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
Search preferences: Curriculum, budget, rating preferences are URL parameters. When you provide your email, these may be stored alongside it so we can send relevant updates.
Analytics: We use PostHog for product analytics. This includes page views, feature usage, and session recordings (with input masking on sensitive fields). Analytics data helps us understand how parents use the site so we can make it better.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.
- We don’t sell, rent, or share your personal data with schools, agencies, or advertisers.
- We don’t collect your child’s name, school enrolment status, or academic records.
- We don’t track your location in the background or after you leave the site.
- We don’t require an account to use the search, compare, or shortlist features.
Third-party services
Mapbox. Provides the interactive maps. Mapbox receives your approximate viewport coordinates when you use the map.
PostHog. Provides analytics and session recording. Data is processed in PostHog’s cloud infrastructure.
Google AdSense. Displays ads on results pages (never on the homepage or above the real-cost reveal). Google may use cookies for ad personalisation.
Vercel. Hosts the site. Standard web server logs (IP address, user agent) are retained per Vercel’s privacy policy.
Stripe. Processes card payments on Stripe-hosted pages. We never see or store card numbers; Stripe shares only the payment status and the email you used, per Stripe’s privacy policy.
Supabase. Stores the email addresses and search preferences you voluntarily submit, in access-controlled infrastructure.
Data retention
Email addresses and associated data are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Browser localStorage data (saved schools, compare list, location pin) is controlled entirely by you. Clear your browser data to remove it.
Analytics data is retained per PostHog’s default retention policy.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Email us at hello@dubaischoolfinder.ae and we’ll respond within 7 days.
You can unsubscribe from any email we send by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of that email.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update this page and note the date. We won’t reduce your rights under this policy without your consent.
